Welcome family and friends!

As some of you may know, it has been on my heart for some time to go on a mission trip to Haiti.  After a year or more of thought, prayer, and talking it over with family and friends, I have decided to go, to make this passion I have for helping those less fortunate a reality!

As the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, I will be making the trip to Haiti this May with Healing Haiti (www.healinghaiti.org), an organization that provides clean water, food, housing, education, and the example of God’s love to some of the poorest and most vulnerable. 

While in Haiti, we will:

§  Deliver fresh water to families living in Cite Soliel

§  Spend time visiting and playing with children at the local orphanage

§  Distribute food and/or animals to those in need

§  Hold, feed, and change sick and dying babies
§  Bring needed supplies ranging from packets of food from Feed My Starving Children to cloth diapers handmade by the ladies of my church

There are various ways that you can help support me and, in turn, support the people of Haiti. First and foremost, I seek your prayers as I begin to plan for this mission trip. Turning in my application was the first step in overcoming my initial fears of going; I imagine there will be more to come! Please pray that I will quickly overcome any fears that arise, that I will be in good health before, during, and after the trip, and that God will use me however He sees fit to help the people of Haiti!

In addition to your prayers, I seek your financial support. The average cost of the trip is $1,500 and anything you are able to contribute would be helpful! Just so you know, gifts to Healing Haiti, designated for my trip expenses, are tax deductible so it's really a win-win situation. If you would like to make a donation, simply let me know and I will email you all the info you need. If you are unable to give financially at this time, please help me think of creative ways to fundraise -- I'd love to hear your ideas!

Besides monetary gifts, there will be opporunities down the road for you to support the Haitian people more directly. I am told that when we embark on our journey, we will each be asked to carry with us two large suitcases filled with needed items like soap, toothpaste, etc. I do not have all of the details yet, but I will post more info as it becomes available to me -- simply click "follow" below to be included on any future updates.
